Three Green Lights

It is understandable that many people have thoughts they will rather not share. Not because the thoughts are bad necessarily but they may just be plain silly.

Try this on for size. Imagine you are driving down a street and there are many street lights. Assume you need to get through three stop lights before you get to where you need to go. Also imagine as soon as you get to the first light, it turned red, then come the silly idea… drum roll please

It will really be awesome if all the three stop lights turned green at the same time and you drive all the way through the three of them without having to stop at any of the lights

News Flash: This rarely happens.

Whether this sound silly, humorous or just doesn’t make sense, Isn’t this a perfect metaphor for taking bold action?

You know what you need to do but you are just waiting for the perfect time. You are waiting for all the light to be green and waiting for all ducks to line up in a row. We live in an imperfect world and things are rarely perfect. The people you meet are work in progress. You yourself are not perfect. The society is guiding itself to a more perfect union. The times are rarely right to reach out to your network and ask for what you want. To say a compliment to someone you think deserves it. To start up a conversation with a stranger. To take the extra class, to ask for a raise.

Below are three actionable ideas you can use

Set a goal and put deadline to it

The first step towards avoiding waiting for the three green light is to set a goal and put a deadline to it.

By setting a deadline it forces you to do what you need to do to make it happen. When your activities seem not to be working out, your goal will be a guiding light. If you try one thing and it does not work, you try something else. If you ask someone to help you get your project off the ground and they are dragging their feet well you ask someone else.

Gather all the information

After you set a goal, the next thing is to gather all the information you need to make your goal a reality. read books, visit website, attend conferences, subscribe to newsletters, watch youtube videos, talk to people you respect on the topic. Be careful at this point though, because you don’t want to get into analysis paralysis. This is a situation in which you know too much and are not able to act. When I get to the lights, I do not ask the question of why they are not using the blue light instead of green light.

One of the biggest things to do at this stage is to list all the steps you think is necessary.

Actually, there is a cure to analysis paralysis. The cure is to act.

Act

After you have set a goal and put a deadline on it and you have the law of attraction bring all the information that you need across your path there is one thing left to do. Act on your dream do not wait for your light to be green.

Act on your dream because it is the answer to the cry of millions.

Act on your dream, the world depends on it.

Act on your dream because fortune favors the bold.

Act on your dream because evil will prevail when good people wait too long for all the light to be green.

Act on your dream now posterity will thank you for it!
